Pasta alfredo, pasta in a creamy parmesan sauce, is a favourite and this is a simple twist which adds gochujang, a Korean style chili pepper paste, for some spicy heat! This recipe is as simple as the original with green onions, garlic, gochujang, and gochugaru added! It only takes about 20 minutes to make, so it’s perfect for quick meals and it’s also sure to impress any guests!
Gochujang Pasta Alfredo
A creamy alfredo sauce seasoned with spicy gochujang, a Korean chili pepper paste!
ingredients
- 12 ounces pasta (such as linguine or fettuccine or penne, etc.) (gluten-free for gluten-free)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 3 green onions, thinly sliced and divided (lights and greens)
- 3 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1/2 tablespoon gochugaru (Korean chili powder)
- 1 cup heavy/whipping cream
- 1/2 cup parmigiano reggiano (parmesan), grated
- salt and pepper to taste
directions
- Start cooking the pasta as directed on the package.
- Melt the butter in a pan over medium heat, add the lights of the green onions, garlic, gochujang, and gochugaru. and cook until fragrant, about a minute.
- Add the cream, bring to a boil and simmer for 3 minutes.
- Add the parmesan and let it melt into the sauce, before seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
- Add the pasta, toss, and enjoy garnished with the greens of the green onions.
Option: Add 1 tablespoon oyster sauce.

Made this tonight & topped it with pan seared chicken with garlic bread & cucumber salad as sides. Delicious!! 😋
With just the chicken it’s great. We’re a little lazy and get the pre-cooked chicken to through into the sauce. We also put scallions on top. Great recipe!
