Hot honey has been pretty popular lately, with good reason, and this chicken combines buffalo chicken with hot honey chicken. The basic idea here is to take some seasoned chicken and cook it before smothering it in a honey buffalo sauce! The sauce starts out as a buffalo sauce with hot sauce and butter and it adds honey along with chili pepper flakes! The tanginess that the vinegar from the hot sauce adds makes the take simple hot honey to a new level! This chicken is super simple to make and it goes great as a main or as an ingredient in sandwiches, wrap, salads, etc.
Hot Honey Buffalo Chicken
Chicken in a sweet, tangy and spicy hot honey sauce!
ingredients
- 2 pounds boneless thighs or breasts, pounded thin
- 1 tablespoon (smoked) paprika
- 2 teaspoons onion powder
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1/4 cup hot sauce (such as Frank Red Hot)
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 2 tablespoons oil
directions
- Rub the chicken with the mixture of paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
- Melt the butter in a small saucepan, add the hot sauce, honey and red pepper flakes, bring to a simmer, turn off the heat and let cool.
- Heat the oil in a large pan over medium-high heat, add the chicken and cook through (165F), about 3-7 minutes per side.
- Enjoy the chicken covered in the hot honey sauce.
