Nashville hot chicken is typically crispy fried chicken in a vinegarless cayenne sauce and this is a super simple slow cooker version! This recipe is as easy as placing the chicken and the hot sauce ingredients into the slow cooker and cooking before shredding the chicken and using it in sandwiches! The hot sauce on Nashville style chicken generally contains plenty of cayenne pepper along with brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion, powder, salt, and pepper and it’s usually mixed with hot oil that was used to cook the chicken in. When I am not frying the chicken in oil, I like to use butter for the hot sauce and so the recipe includes melted butter. The chicken is often brined in pickle juices so I like to add some of that to the slow cooker as well! Once the chicken is ready you just need to throw it into buns along with your favourite topping, such as pickles, slaw, ranch dressing, etc. These sandwiches are perfect to make any time of the year and they go particularly well for watching the big game!

I made this last night. wondering if the 2 Tbsp. of cayenne is supposed to get 2 tsp? unbearably hot spicy and we all love hot! Flavor is great tho, bug definitely needed thr cooling effect of the slaw@
I like spicy but holy cow this is spicy. 1 tablespoon of cayenne is probably sufficient.
I thought the same….I doubled the recipe, so glad I didn’t double the cayenne! I think starting with a tea spoon would be plenty..
