Today I have another tasty and easy to make syrup for you, a fresh blackberry syrup! Homemade syrups could not be easier to make, where you simply simmer the blackberries along with sugar and water, along with a hit of lemon juice for extra freshness, until the flavour of the blackberries has been extracted before straining the solids. This blackberry syrup is perfect on pancakes, waffles, etc or used as a sweetener in drinks like teas. No matter what you use this blackberry syrup in, it’s sure to please!

My mom used to occasionally buy boysenberry syrup when we were kids, and it was such a treat. This looks absolutely gorgeous.
I have just this Blackberry Syrup now and is cooling as we speak. It is gorgeous to drink on its own. Will make this again when I have a glut of berry fruit. It would probably work well with Lime juice instead of Lemon.
Can this be canned?
Yes it can! (You will have to look up proper canning procedures though.)
Is it supposed to be so runny? I’m wonder if I’m using too fine of a strainer
You can simmer longer for a thicker syrup. Blackberries naturally contain pectin (the ingredient that thickens jams) and the longer you simmer, the thicker it will get!
,and have blackberrys so I will be making this thanks for sharing I enjoy your recipes
I need to empty my freezer of collected berries as the new season will be coming around! I love this idea and look forward to trying it. I will use it to make blackberry tea (I love tea) as well as other things. Blackberry sauce is really delicious with chicken. I’m making a big batch and going to freeze some in cubes so I can have fruity tea whenever I choose to! Thank you!
I have already strained my fruit. I have 4 cups prepared blackberries. How would I make this into syrup?
Add 3.5 to 4 cups of sugar and bring to boil for 4-5 minutes stirring to avoid any burning. The mixture will become sirrupy. Take it out of the heat and pour it in bottles, close them and let them cool. Keep one bottle for testing and enjoying!
